Project Description
This project involved critical fire safety improvements to a ten-storey 1960s apartment building located close to central Croydon. The work was commissioned as part of a government-funded programme aimed at improving the safety and compliance of existing housing stock. Following a full assessment of the building’s thermal performance, fire safety, and compliance with current Building Regulations, particularly in relation to U-value and combustibility standards, we were contracted to carry out a comprehensive upgrade.
Scope of Work:
- Undertake intrusive investigations to verify fire report
- Replacement of external wall insulation with a A1 rated alternative
- Replace timber cladding with A1 rated Vitradual panels
- Remove/replace balcony decking with non-combustible planks
- Replace timber windows with double glazed UPVC units
- Full internal fire door inspection & report
- Subsequent replacement/repair of communal fire doors
