Project Description
R J O’Neill was appointed to undertake complex fire remediation works at Herald Street, arecently completed 8-storey residential block located in Bethnal Green, London. The project was initiated following a comprehensive fire risk assessment, which identified over 500 fire-related issues requiring immediate intervention. These included widespread defects in passive fire protection systems, non-compliant fire doors, and inadequately installed or damaged specialist partitions.
R J O’Neill worked with multiple leading manufacturers to develop cost-effective, compliant passive fire protection solutions tailored to each defect. This ensured optimal technical performance while delivering strong value and full regulatory compliance.
Specification:
- Full remediation of passive fire protection systems across multiple zones within the building
- Replacement and upgrade of fire door sets and internal partitions to meet current test standards
- Detailed analysis of existing service penetrations, ensuring all solutions aligned with relevant manufacturer fire test data
- Relocation and reconfiguration of multiple services where required to suit certified test details
- Deconstruction and reconstruction of building finishes and elements to bring installations in line with tested systems
